 Saul Bellow, born on 10 July 1915 in Lachine (Montreal), Canada, and died on 5 April 2005 in Brookline (Massachusetts), United States, was a contemporary Canadian-American writer of Russian-Jewish origin. He was awarded the International Prize for Littérature in 1965 and the Nobel Prize for Littérature in 1976.
